Rexroth has combined the advantages of digital technology with the favorable characteristics of hydraulics and developed extremely user-friendly drive concepts. Thus, Rexroth is THE supplier of highly dynamic and field bus-capable electrohydraulic axes. Thanks to intelligent axis controllers and Rexroths expertise in the field of hydraulics, the integration into higher-level control concepts with defined interfaces has become possible. Today, Rexroth can offer a multitude of application-specific plug-and-play units.

In the field of factory automation, the entire Drive & Control product range, that is electromechanics, hydraulics and pneumatics, is in competition. Customers wish to select the optimum drive principle for each axis without having to switch between operator controls. Apart from the technical realization of a drive task, other important aspects play a key role for users today such as low cost, simple integration of hydraulic axes into automation concepts, simplified installation, commissioning and maintenance.

Today, the systems described above are available as single components or as complete axes (EHL = Electrohydraulic Linear Axis). For the customer, the advantage of the EHL lies in the transfer of the system responsibility from the machine builder to the drive manufacturer. Suitable components can be selected and controller parameters determined in a first step through simulation on the basis of customer wishes specified in terms of velocity, force, accuracy, etc. Then, the axis is tested and precisely adjusted in the factory. The customer finally receives the complete plug-&-play axis.

Especially the power density of hydraulic axes in conjunction with the undisputed improvements in dynamics and accuracy make them a real alternative to electromechanics. A great benefit is the integrated overload protection feature in the form of a pressure relief valve. Due to the integration of closed-loop control electronics in the axis and the introduction of open field buses in industrial hydraulics, the last hurdle is now cleared. Controlling is now implemented in the same way as with electromechanical axes a principle with which the machine builder is well familiar.

From the simple controller through to complex controls with bus interfacing and hydraulics-capable control concepts, with integrated or external electronics, Rexroth offers a matched range of axes for any application.

Bosch Rexroth AG, a one-hundred-percent owned subsidiary of Robert Bosch
GmbH, achieved sales of 3.62 billion Euro in 2002 with approximately 25,500 employees. The company was formed in May 2001 by the merger of Bosch Automationstechnik and Mannesmann Rexroth and now combines under the brand name of Rexroth the range of products and services of the former brands of Bosch Automation, Brueninghaus Hydromatik, Indramat, Lohmann + Stolterfoht, Mecman, Refu, Rexroth Hydraulics and Star. Rexroth offers all relevant drive, control and motion technologies: from mechanics, hydraulics and pneumatics through to electronics as well as the associated services and in around 80 countries worldwide.
