The latest version of Rexroth’s IndraMotion for Packaging reduces the engineering work involved in the automation of packaging machines even further. In addition, this system solution has now also been expanded with the addition of a new generation of servodrives in the lower power range of 50 W to 3.5 kW and PC-based control hardware.
The implemented Rexroth FlexProfile function is already used to simplify the engineering work for the motional sequences in numerous highly flexible packaging machines. In the latest version it is supplemented by assistants, plausibility checks and graphic displays. The user can make one hundred percent use of predefined parameters and therefore cuts out all the work associated with classical programming. FlexProfile allows the user to achieve process-dependent adaptive cams and to link up axis-independent motion segments. This means that whenever parameters are changed all the previously defined dependencies remain unaffected and product or format changeovers can be achieved quickly and easily.
With the new series of compact IndraDrive Cs drives, Rexroth is expanding the lower power range of the IndraDrive drive system that has enjoyed worldwide success. In addition to a space-saving design and excellent performance data, the IndraDrive Cs stands out for its extensive Ethernet-based communication interfaces and takes account of the increased requirements for openness and consistency with newly developed communication hardware with multiple protocol compatibility. Combined with the multiple transducer interface for evaluating all relevant encoder types plus the integrated safety technology, it is possible – with only a few standard variants – to also confidently cover very specific drive tasks.
The IndraMotion for Packaging system solution is supplemented by high performance embedded technology for all automation tasks with Motion Logic and HMI. All control functions are integrated on the basis of a compact embedded PC platform. In addition to logic control, motion control, robotic and technology functions, an effective onboard and turnkey visualization component together with all the communication interfaces is also provided. The control system communicates with the peripherals on a consistent basis via SERCOS III. The integrated motion control synchronizes up to 32 axes and has the same basic and technology functions as the controller-based solution from Rexroth.
